Tomoko Sakata
Tomoko Sakata is a Partner and Stylist at Banzai Hair Studio. Her skills have been refined through her education at Vidal Sassoon in Los Angeles, San Francisco and London, England. Tomoko has additional training from Suki’s and Zinc, both in Vancouver, BC.
Tomoko’s interests include work, cooking and sports.
Her philosophy on hair is: ‘Hair is about style that compliments both your inner and outer self.’
Chuck Jung
Chuck Jung is a Partner and Stylist at Banzai Hair Studio. Chuck was born and raised in Vancouver BC, where he attended Britannia High. Following high school, Chuck moved on to BCIT, to become a Business Graduate. His hair skills were fine tuned through advanced training while attending Eclipse in London England, Vidal Sassoon in both London and Los Angeles, in addition to his time spent at Suki’s Advanced Academy and Zinc Hair Academy – both in Vancouver BC. Chuck’s expertise spans all facets of hair cutting, including mens barbering techniques, which was the most recent addition to his repertoire.
Chuck’s interests include reading, and staying up to date with the latest local and international news through the Vancouver Sun and Province newspapers. His television choices include The Voice, American Idol and Dancing with the Stars, as well as Mad Men and The Good Wife. In his leisure time, Chuck enjoys basketball and golf, but also takes to time to cheer on the Vancouver Canucks. Food wise, Chuck enjoys Chinese and Japanese cuisine, but he never turns down a great steak. An outgoing and social individual, Chuck loves to chat and can find interest in most any topic. His personal style is described as sporty, current and casual.
‘Love to cut hair, to move naturally and to complement. I like to stay current by taking various seminars throughout the year.’ This is Chucks personal philosophy about hair. He has a constant focus on challenging himself and improving his creative eye.”
Jeff Solis
Jeff Solis is a Senior Colourist and Stylist at Banzai Hair Studio. Jeff’s professional training was acquired through Suki’s Advanced Hair Academy and the Zinc Academy. He holds a Colour Specialist Degree and an INOA Specialist Degree from L’Oreal, while his continued education also includes many additional courses through L’Oreal. Jeff is a Senior Stylist and Colourist who specializes in Upstyles, Cold Fusion Extensions and Ionic Straightening. Jeff also provides relaxing, perming and Keratin treatments at Banzai.
Jeff’s interests range a broad creative gamut, and include world travel, language, fashion, art, photography, dance and cars. Jeff also enjoys reading; some of his favourite tittles include In Praise of Slowness, A Complaint Free World and The 4 Hour Work Week. Upon kicking back, Jeff entertains himself through an eclectic mix of movie genres, such as Y Tu Mama Tambien, X-Men, Hereafter and The Bandit Queen. When it comes to keeping in shape, Jeff moves toward cycling.

Karen Quan
Karen Quan is a Senior Stylist at Banzai Hair Studio, boasting over 20 years of hairdressing experience. Her background is in Design, which has enabled her to apply the same principles of shape, form and function into the crowning glory that is your hair. Karen began as an apprentice with Banzai, before moving on to complete her advanced hairdressing course with the renowned and respected Vidal Sassoon Academy in Los Angeles. Karen loves hair and one of her favourite aspects of being a hair dresser are the relationships she has built with her clients. Every appointment is like a visit and a mini makeover, a time to catch up on each others lives and share new experiences – while creating a hair style that is flattering and fitting to their lifestyle. In her spare time, Karen enjoys expanding her mind and body through reading and yoga, while filling her home with the aroma of fresh baking.
Winnie Sun
Winnie Sun is a Stylist at Banzai Hair Salon. Winnie’s has acquired her broad education from Suki’s Advanced Academy in Vancouver BC, as well as Vidal Sassoon in London England. She has also trained with Zinc, American Crew, L’Oreal Professionel and Sebastian. Winnie is constantly attending various seminars and classes at industry shows to perfect her skills, sharpen her creative eye and stay on top of the latest trends.
Winnie is a very creative individual and her interests include fashion, make up and art as well as experimenting with creative haircutting and performing hair make overs.
‘Styles that are modern and easy to manage, and also to add in one personalized accent piece in the haircut or colour work’; this is Winnie’s personal philosophy on hair.
Joshua Friesen
Joshua is a Stylist at Banzai Hair Studio. His education includes Advanced Hair Cutting at Suki’s Hair Academy and Colour Class at L’Oreal. Joshua is always continuing his education with ongoing shows and seminars in order to stay on top of the current trends, products and styles. His Interests include music, art, fashion as well as architecture, history, people and a wide range of food.
‘Your hair should flatter you as well as match your lifestyle and taste. Without a good haircut this can become difficult to do. My goal is to give you a precision haircut that reflects your style and suits your life.’ This is Joshua’s personal philosophy on hair.
Nakry Keo
Nakry Keo is a Sylist at Banzai Hair Studio. Nakry has a great deal of advanced training and is great at long layered and short hair cuts. She is excellent at blow drying and shampooing and takes it seriously. Nakry is exploring technician work and is very receptive to suggestions and changes. She has a fun and outgoing personality and is a great listener.
‘It’s all about making the clients feel great and referring to the right products to maintain your hair health and style.’ This is Nakry’s hair philosophy.
Willy Kung
Will Kung is both, Stylist and Colorist at Banzai Hair Studio. Will’s broad educational background includes Suki’s Advanced Academy, Zinc Academy and is a fully qualified Cosmetologist. His color education includes L’Oreal Keys to Color and Goldwell Color Continuum. Will has worked back-stage with Redken and Vancouver Fashion Week. Influenced by Tokyo Fashion and Pop Culture, his styles are fused into professional West Coast Styles. Will loves to Mtn. Bike, and Snowboard. He is also into Anime, Cars, Video Games & Electronics. Charmaine Lee
Charmaine Lee is a Colour Technician at Banzai Hair Studio. A L’Oreal INOA Specialist Charmaine’s educational background includes L’Oreal Colour Training, L’Oreal X-tenso Training, Smoothing Treatment Training and Suki’s Technical Training. Charmaine has also obtained in Salon Training and over 2 years experience as a colourist at Banzai. She performs Highlights, Blow Drys, Styling, Updos and smoothing services.
Her interests include reading Jackie Collins books and she loves most food, but her specific favourite is Indian. Charmaine also has a big sweet tooth and she adores cheesecake. She also enjoys cooking and anything crafty. Charmaine also likes to stay physically fit, she frequents the gym and participates in charitable runs on a regular basis.
